About the Dublin Murder Squad series
Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad novels redefined literary crime fiction. Each book hands the narration to a different detective from the same Dublin squad — often a minor character from the previous novel — producing a loosely linked series of psychologically intense, beautifully written standalones.
French is less interested in whodunit than in what the investigation does to the investigator: obsession, memory, self-deception and the seductive pull of the past. The prose is gorgeous and the atmosphere haunting.
Because each book follows a new narrator, you can start almost anywhere, but reading in order from "In the Woods" lets you appreciate how characters recur and refract.
