Elizabeth Lowell was born Ann Elizabeth Buckalew in 1948 in Richmond, Virginia. A graduate of William & Mary College, she began writing in 1978 and has since published over 75 novels. Her romances are known for their historical detail, emotional depth, and strong female characters. Lowell's most notable works include "Untamed" (1980), "Whirlwind" (1984), and "Sunset" (1988). She has won numerous awards for her writing, including the Romance Writers of America's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998 and the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award in 2004. Lowell's books have sold over 30 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over 20 languages. She is considered one of the most influential and successful romance writers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Lowell passed away in 2019 at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of beloved romances that continue to enchant readers to this day.
