**Larry Niven** (born 1938) is an American science fiction author known for his imaginative and scientifically detailed works. Born in Los Angeles, California, Niven developed an interest in science fiction early on. He began writing in the 1960s, and his first novel, "World of Ptavvs," was published in 1966. Niven's most famous works include the "Ringworld" series, featuring a massive artificial world encircling a star. He has also written the "Known Space" series, which explores the interactions of numerous alien species. Niven has won numerous awards for his writing, including four Hugo Awards, four Nebula Awards, and the Grand Master Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). His works are widely acclaimed for their scientific accuracy, innovative ideas, and thought-provoking themes.
