Janette Oke (née Oke Steinkamp) is a Canadian Christian romance novelist. Born in Champion, Alberta, she moved to the United States in 1969 with her husband, Edward. Oke began writing in 1977 and has since published over 150 novels, mostly within her core series, Love Comes Softly. Her books have sold over 30 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 35 languages. Oke's novels have been praised for their historical accuracy, relatable characters, and exploration of Christian themes. She has received numerous awards, including the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's Gold Medallion Award and the Christy Award.
