Gail Carriger is an American author known for her steampunk, paranormal romance, and fantasy novels. Born in Castro Valley, California, she spent her childhood in Hawaii, Florida, and Oklahoma before graduating from Oklahoma State University with a degree in history. Carriger began her writing career in 2009 with the release of "Soulless," the first novel in her bestselling Parasol Protectorate series. The series has garnered critical acclaim and been translated into over 20 languages. She has also written the Finishing School series, the Prudence series, and the Custard Protocol series. Carriger's novels are characterized by their inventive worldbuilding, witty dialogue, and strong female characters. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Whitney Award for Best Novel and the Locus Award for Best Steampunk Novel. Her books have also been nominated for the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award.
