Born in Castro Valley, California, she spent her childhood in Hawaii, Florida, and Oklahoma before graduating from Oklahoma State University with a degree in history. Carriger began her writing career in 2009 with the release of "Soulless," the first novel in her bestselling Parasol Protectorate series.
