Abrahams was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and began writing mysteries in the 1980s under the pseudonym Spencer Quinn. The Chet and Bernie series features a dog-owning private investigator named Pete Donohue and his loyal canine companion, Chet. The series has received critical acclaim for its humor, suspense, and heartwarming characters. It has won multiple awards, including the Agatha Award for Best Novel (2011) for "To Fetch a Thief."
