Patricia Briggs is an American fantasy author known for her Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega urban fantasy series. Before writing, she worked as a systems analyst. Briggs was born in Butte, Montana, and lived in various places before graduating from the University of Montana with degrees in Political Science and English Literature. Her first novel, Masques (1993), was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award. She later began the Mercy Thompson series with Moon Called (2006), which spawned eleven sequels, becoming a New York Times Bestseller. In 2007, she began the Alpha and Omega series with Cry Wolf. Briggs has won multiple awards, including the P.E.A.R.L. Award and Scribe Award, and her works have been translated into more than twenty-five languages.
