Helen Bailey (1964-2016) was a British author known for her work in the crime fiction genre. Bailey's writing career began in 2014 with the publication of her debut novel, "Elegy for April." The book, which introduced Detective Constable Gemma James, became a critical and commercial success, winning the Dagger in the Library award in 2015. She followed up her debut with two more novels in the Gemma James series, "When the Moon Was Ours" (2015) and "The Summer of Dead Toys" (2016).
