Julian Stockwin (born 1941) is a British author known for his historical fiction novels and screenplays. Born in India, he spent his childhood in England. Stockwin's works often explore historical events and the human experience within them, weaving factual and fictional elements. Notable works include "Kydd," a series of novels following the adventures of a young naval officer during the Napoleonic Wars; "Empires of the Sea," a trilogy set in the 18th and 19th centuries; and "The Lady Macbeth of Siberia," a story inspired by the real-life tale of a female convict in 19th-century Russia. Stockwin's writing has received critical acclaim for its historical accuracy, engaging narratives, and vivid characterizations.
