Kate Kingsbury is an American novelist known for her historical fiction, particularly her novels about women. Born in 1980, Kingsbury holds a BA in English from the University of California, Berkeley and an MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She worked as an editor before turning to writing full-time. Kingsbury's debut novel, "The Garden," was published in 2013 and was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction. Her second novel, "Dyschronia," was longlisted for the National Book Award in 2017. Kingsbury's writing has been praised for its vivid historical detail, its exploration of female identity, and its immersive storytelling. She has been awarded the Pushcart Prize and the James Laughlin Award and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.
