Sophie Kinsella (born Madeleine Sophie Townley in London, 1969) is a British author known for her witty and romantic chick lit novels. After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, she worked as a financial journalist before pursuing her writing career. Kinsella's first novel, "Can You Keep a Secret?" (2003), was an instant bestseller and established her as a leading voice in the genre. She is best known for her "Shopaholic" series, which follows the adventures of Rebecca Bloomwood, a compulsive shopper. The series has sold over 50 million copies worldwide and inspired a film adaptation. Other notable works include "The Undomestic Goddess" (2005), "I've Got Your Number" (2011), and "Surprise Me" (2017). Kinsella's novels have been translated into over 40 languages and have received critical acclaim for their humor, relatable characters, and exploration of modern relationships.
