Marcia Muller (born July 4, 1944) is an American mystery writer known for her Sharon McCone series. Born in Michigan, she studied English at the University of California, Berkeley, where she met her husband, Bill Pronzini, also a mystery writer. Muller's first Sharon McCone novel, "Edwin of the Iron Shoes," was published in 1971. The series features McCone, a private investigator based in San Francisco, and has become a critical and commercial success, with over 30 novels in the series. McCone is praised for her intelligence, determination, and compassion. Muller has received numerous awards for her work, including the Private Eye Writers of America Lifetime Achievement Award (2000) and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America (2009). Her books have been translated into over 20 languages.
