Elly Griffiths (born 1963) is a British author best known for her Ruth Galloway mystery series. Griffiths studied archaeology and English literature at the University of Bristol and worked as a teacher and journalist before turning to writing full-time. Her debut novel, "The Crossing Places," featuring forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway, was published in 2009 and became a bestseller. The series has since sold over 10 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 languages. Griffiths has also written several stand-alone novels, including "The Vanished Hours" and "A Room Full of Bones." Griffiths has won numerous awards for her work, including the CWA Dagger in the Library Award for "The Stranger Diaries" and the Theakston's Crime Novel of the Year Award for "The Outcast Dead." Her books have been critically acclaimed for their atmospheric settings, complex characters, and gripping mysteries.
