John Flanagan, born May 22, 1948, in Sydney, Australia, is an acclaimed fantasy and historical fiction author. He initially worked as a marketing director and advertising copywriter before pursuing writing full-time. Flanagan's literary career took off with the publication of "Ranger's Apprentice," the first book in his popular series of the same name.
