Tanya Huff is a Canadian speculative fiction author, best known for her urban fantasy and science fiction series. Born in 1957 in Haliburton, Ontario, Huff initially pursued a career in social work before turning to writing. Her debut novel, "Gate of Darkness, Circle of Fire," was published in 1986 and launched the popular Blood Books series. Huff has since published over thirty novels, including the Victoria Nelson series, the Confederation series, and the Torin Kerr series. Her work has garnered critical acclaim for its strong female characters, complex world-building, and blend of action, humor, and romance. Huff has won multiple awards, including the Aurora Award for Best English Novel three times, and her books have been translated into over twenty languages. She is recognized as one of the pioneers of urban fantasy and has significantly influenced the genre.
