Steven Kellogg (born February 25, 1941) is an American children's book author and illustrator known for his whimsical and imaginative artwork. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, Kellogg graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York City. He began his career as an illustrator for magazines and newspapers but soon transitioned to creating children's books. Kellogg's notable works include "The Island of the Skog," "Pinkerton, Behave!" (for which he won the Caldecott Honor in 1983), and "Can I Keep It?" He has also collaborated with his wife, Nancy White Carlstrom, on several books. Throughout his career, Kellogg has received numerous awards, including two Caldecott Honors, and has been praised for his ability to connect with young readers through his humorous and heartwarming illustrations.
