Paula Maguire

Claire McGowan is a British author of historical crime fiction. She was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire, in 1969. She studied English at the University of Oxford and worked as a journalist before turning to writing full-time. McGowan's first novel, "A Twist of Fate," was published in 2005. It introduced forensic scientist Dr. Paula Maguire, who features in several of McGowan's novels. Her books have been praised for their strong female characters, intricate plots, and atmospheric settings. McGowan has won several awards for her writing, including the Waverley Medal in 2010 and the Mary Higgins Clark Award in 2013. Her books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
