Mary Jo Putney, born in 1945 in Pennsylvania, is a renowned American historical romance author. Her interest in the genre began at a young age, influenced by her grandmother's vast collection of books. She earned a degree in journalism from Penn State University and worked as a reporter before turning to writing full-time. Putney's debut novel, "Thunder and Roses," published in 1983, was an immediate success. Throughout her career, she has written over 35 historical romances set in various eras and locations. Her works are known for their compelling characters, historical accuracy, and emotional depth. Putney has received numerous accolades for her writing, including multiple RITA Awards from the Romance Writers of America. She was inducted into the Romance Writers Hall of Fame in 2007.
