Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867-1957) was an American writer best known for her "Little House" series of children's books. Born in Wisconsin, she experienced the pioneer life depicted in her writing firsthand. After settling in South Dakota and Missouri, she began writing about her childhood in 1932 at the urging of her daughter, Rose Wilder Lane. Wilder's "Little House" books, starting with "Little House in the Big Woods" (1932), captivated readers with their authentic portrayal of frontier life and the challenges faced by early settlers. She received the Newbery Medal in 1954 for "On the Banks of Plum Creek," the fourth book in the series. Wilder's writing style, which combines vivid descriptions with a heartfelt tone, has made her books timeless classics, enjoyed by generations of readers worldwide.
