**Seanan McGuire** (born October 6, 1978) is an American author of fantasy, science fiction, horror, and urban fantasy. Born in California, McGuire attended Smith College and the University of California, Riverside. Their writing career began in online fandom, and they published their first novel, "Rosemary and Rue," in 2009. McGuire has written over 30 novels, including the popular "October Daye" urban fantasy series and the "Toby Daye" young adult fantasy series. Other notable works include the "InCryptid" series and the standalone "Middlegame."
