Brian Freeman is an American author of mystery and thriller novels. Born in 1963 in St. Paul, Minnesota, he was a journalist before turning to writing fiction. Freeman is known for his Lucas Davenport series, featuring a profiler working for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The first novel in the series, "Immoral Proposition," was published in 2004 and became a New York Times bestseller. Freeman has since written over 20 novels in the series, which has been praised for its fast-paced action, complex characters, and intricate plots. In addition to the Lucas Davenport series, Freeman has also written standalone novels such as "The Bone House" (2017) and "Spilled Blood" (2020). His works have won numerous awards, including the Anthony Award, Barry Award, and Macavity Award.
