Alex Berenson, born in 1973, is an American author, journalist, and former CIA officer. After graduating from Yale University, Berenson served in the CIA's counterterrorism center. He left the CIA to pursue journalism, working for The New York Times and Time magazine. Berenson's reporting and analysis of terrorism, the Iraq War, and the Middle East earned him recognition. He is primarily known for his espionage thriller novels featuring John Wells, a former CIA analyst. Berenson's novels have achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, notably the "The Faithful Spy" and "The Wolves" series. Berenson has received the Edgar Award for Best Novel and the Hammett Prize. His works have been translated into multiple languages and praised for their realism, suspense, and political insights.
