Eric Van Lustbader (born May 22, 1946) is an American author best known for his action, thriller, and suspense novels. Born in New York City, Van Lustbader studied psychology and English literature at Long Island University. He began his writing career in the mid-1970s with the publication of several psychological thrillers. In 1985, he gained recognition with the release of "The Ninja," the first installment in his popular series featuring the character Nicolas Linnear. Van Lustbader has written over 30 novels, including the "Jason Bourne" series (originated by Robert Ludlum), the "Black Heart" trilogy, and "The Pearl Saga." His works have been translated into more than 20 languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide. Van Lustbader has received numerous awards for his writing, including the Black Orchid Award for Best Thriller in 2006 and the International Thriller Writers Award in 2008. His novels have been praised for their fast-paced action, complex characters, and intricate plots.
