**J. M. Dalgliesh** (1922-2021) was a British author known for her suspenseful and atmospheric crime novels. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dalgliesh began her writing career in the 1960s, with her debut novel "The Spider's Web" (1968). She went on to write over 20 books, including "Guardian Angel" (1985), "The Shadow of the Raven" (1993), and "The House on Traven Square" (2008). Dalgliesh's novels often featured strong female protagonists and intricate plots that explored themes of justice, revenge, and redemption. She won the Golden Dagger Award for Best Crime Novel of the Year in 1986 for "Guardian Angel" and was nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award several times.
