Dorothy Cannell (1911-1998) was an American writer known for her mystery and suspense novels. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she began writing in her 40s. Cannell's debut novel, "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948), established her as a master of suspense. It was adapted into a successful Broadway play and a Hollywood film. She went on to write over 25 novels, including "The Man with My Face" (1963) and "The Judas Trap" (1968). Cannell's work has received critical acclaim for its psychological depth, tightly woven plots, and atmospheric settings. She has been praised for her ability to create characters with complex motivations and to build suspense through subtle nuances. Despite her success, Cannell remained a relatively private person.
