DS Jack Mackinnon

**D.S. Butler** (1922-2011) was an American author known for her historical novels and nonfiction works. Born in New York City, Butler studied history at Columbia University. She began writing as a young woman, publishing her first novel, "Drums Along the Mohawk," in 1940. The book became a bestseller, selling over a million copies. Butler wrote over 30 novels and nonfiction books, including "The Frontiersmen," "American Heritage: First Ladies," and "The Founding of the American Republic."
