Colin Cotterill (1952 - 2022) was a British-born Australian author best known for his Dr. Siri Paiboun mysteries set in Laos during the 1970s. Born in Yorkshire, England, Cotterill spent much of his adult life in Thailand and Laos, where he worked as a teacher and journalist. His experiences in Laos inspired his critically acclaimed series of Dr. Siri Paiboun mysteries, featuring an elderly Laotian doctor who solves crimes while navigating the cultural and political complexities of post-colonial Laos. Cotterill's novels have won numerous awards, including the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger Award in 2008 for "The Coroner's Lunch." His work has been praised for its unique setting, compelling characters, and insightful portrayal of Laotian culture. Cotterill's novels have been published in over 20 languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.
