**Carolyn Hart** (born November 24, 1936) is an American mystery novelist known for her popular mystery series featuring Death on Demand Bookstore owner Annie Darling and police detective Max Darling. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Hart began her writing career late in life, publishing her first novel, "Death on Demand," at the age of 44. The novel was an instant bestseller and spawned a long-running series that currently numbers over 50 titles.
