Frank E. Peretti is an American Christian author known for his suspenseful and apocalyptic novels. Born on January 25, 1951, in Pasadena, California, Peretti was raised in a devout Christian family and attended Pepperdine University. He worked as a youth pastor and high school English teacher before pursuing writing full-time. Peretti's breakthrough came in 1986 with the release of "This Present Darkness," an apocalyptic thriller that became a bestseller. He followed up with numerous successful novels, including "Piercing the Darkness" (1989), "The Prophet" (1992), and "Hangman's Curse" (1995). Peretti's works blend supernatural suspense with Christian themes, exploring the battle between good and evil.
