Roger Zelazny (1937-1995) was an American science fiction and fantasy author known for his experimental style and philosophical themes. He won three Hugo Awards, two Nebula Awards, and the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Zelazny studied literature at Columbia University. His first novel, "This Immortal," was published in 1966 and established him as a major figure in the New Wave science fiction movement. He continued to write prolifically, producing over 60 novels and short stories, including "The Chronicles of Amber" series and the novel "Lord of Light." Zelazny's work is praised for its complex characters, imaginative worlds, and lyrical prose. He was a master of blending genres, creating works that defied easy categorization. His writings influenced generations of authors and remain highly regarded in the world of speculative fiction.
