Helene Tursten is a Swedish crime writer born in 1954. Her writing career began in the 1990s, initially writing short stories and children's books before transitioning to the crime genre. Tursten's breakthrough came with her detective novel series featuring Detective Inspector Irene Huss. The series has sold millions of copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 languages. Tursten has received several awards for her work, including the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy Award for Best Swedish Crime Novel in 2002, 2004, and 2006.
