About Philip Kerr

Philip Kerr (born 1956) is a Scottish historical crime fiction author. After studying law at the University of Edinburgh, he worked as an advertising copywriter. His debut novel, "March Violets" (1989), introduced the character of Bernie Gunther, a private investigator in 1930s Berlin. Kerr has since written over 30 novels featuring Gunther, as well as several stand-alone works. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages and have received widespread critical acclaim. He has won numerous awards, including the CWA Gold Dagger Award (twice), the Crime Writers' Association Historical Dagger Award, and the Deutscher Krimi Preis (German Crime Fiction Award).
