Leighton Gage (1942-2013) was an American mystery and thriller writer acclaimed for his captivating plots and vivid characters. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he served in the Navy before embarking on a successful career as an advertising executive. Gage's literary debut came in 1986 with the mystery novel "A Death at the White Horse Tavern." His work received widespread critical acclaim for its suspenseful narratives, historical accuracy, and witty dialogue. Notable works include the popular Inspector Ghote series set in Mumbai, India, and the suspenseful standalone novels "China Lake" and "Blood of the Innocents." In 1988, Gage won the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Novel for "A Death at the White Horse Tavern." His works have also been nominated for numerous other awards, including the Golden Dagger Award and the Hammett Prize. Throughout his career, Gage earned critical success for his ability to craft intricate plots, evoke vivid settings, and capture the complexities of the human condition.
