Charlaine Harris is an American author known for her mystery and supernatural fiction. Born in Mississippi in 1951, she initially pursued a career in journalism. Harris began writing fiction in 1990 and published her first novel, "Sweet and Deadly," in 1996. She gained widespread recognition with her "Southern Vampire Mysteries" series, featuring the telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse.
