Brian Herbert (1947-2015) was an American author known for co-authoring the "Dune" sequels and prequels with his father, Frank Herbert. Herbert studied music and social work before turning to writing. He published several novels before collaborating with his father on "Dune: The Butlerian Jihad" (2002), which initiated a new "Dune" saga. Together, they wrote 12 additional "Dune" novels, expanding the original mythology and exploring new characters and events. Herbert also penned standalone works such as "Sidney's Comet" (1983) and "Man of Two Worlds" (1986). Herbert received critical acclaim and numerous awards for his "Dune" collaborations, including the Prometheus Hall of Fame Award and the Nebula Award for Best Novel. Despite some mixed reviews, his contributions helped continue the legacy of Frank Herbert's iconic masterpiece.
