Simon Brett, born in 1945, is a prolific British crime and comedy writer. He began his career as a scriptwriter for popular television shows like "Doctor Who" and "The Persuaders!" Brett's breakthrough came with the creation of Detective Inspector Charles Paris in his first novel, "A Nice Class of Corpse" (1976). Brett's other notable works include the Mrs. Pargeter mystery series, the Fethering mystery series, and standalone novels like "After the Funeral" (1987).
