Dav Pilkey, born in 1966, is an American author and illustrator known for his irreverent and imaginative children's books. Growing up with ADHD and dyslexia, he struggled in school but found solace in art. After graduating from art school, Pilkey began his career as an illustrator. In 1997, he published his breakout work, "The Paper Bag Princess," a feminist fairy tale that has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. He also created the popular "Captain Underpants" series, a humorous adventure about two fourth-graders who transform their principal into a superhero.
