About Charles Todd

Charles Todd is the pen name of Caroline and Charles Todd, a mother-and-son writing team who specialize in historical mystery novels. Caroline Todd (1920-2002) was a British author of over 60 romantic suspense novels. Her son, Charles Todd (born 1960), is an American author and historian. Together, they have written over 20 books in the Inspector Ian Rutledge series, set in postwar England and featuring a shell-shocked detective. The series has won numerous awards, including the Agatha Award for Best Historical Novel, and has been translated into over 25 languages. The Todds have also written the Bess Crawford series, set in 1920s England and featuring a female private investigator, and the Inspector Rutledge Mysteries graphic novel series.
