Jeffrey Siger is an American author and academic known for his work in literary criticism, American literature, and cultural studies. Born in 1955, he is a professor of English at the University of California, Davis. Siger has published several books, including "Men of Good Hope: Benjamin Franklin and the American Enlightenment" (2006) and "Becoming Visible: The Voyages of Philip Perce and the Creation of the Eighteenth-Century World" (2019). His research focuses on the intersections of literature, history, and philosophy, exploring themes of national identity, exploration, and the Enlightenment. Siger's work has received critical acclaim for its rigorous scholarship and insightful analysis. "Men of Good Hope" was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize in History in 2007. His awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship.
