Ashley Weaver is an American journalist and author known for her work in investigative journalism and true crime. Born and raised in Colorado, she earned a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Colorado State University. Weaver began her career as a reporter for local newspapers before joining The Denver Post, where she spent several years investigating crime and corruption. In 2015, she published her first book, "Murder in the Heartland," a true crime account of a double murder in rural Colorado. The book received critical acclaim for its thorough research and gripping narrative. Weaver's second book, "Legacy of Secrets," was published in 2018 and tells the story of a decades-long child sexual abuse scandal within the Southern Baptist Convention. The book was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. Weaver's work has also appeared in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Guardian. She has received numerous awards for her journalism and writing, including a Polk Award for Investigative Reporting and the George Polk Award for Justice Reporting.
