**Robert K. Tanenbaum** (1928-2019) was an American author, editor, and professor. Born in Boston, Tanenbaum taught English and creative writing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for over three decades. Notable works include: * **The New Campus Writing** (1965) * **Staying On** (1971) * **The Winslow Boy** (1999) "Staying On" received critical acclaim, winning the 1972 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a Tony Award for Best Play. Tanenbaum also edited several anthologies, including "The Writer's Reader" and "The Oxford Book of American Short Stories." Beyond his writing, Tanenbaum was an active supporter of young writers and an advocate for intellectual freedom. His works explored themes of identity, social justice, and the human condition, leaving a lasting legacy in American literature.
