Richelle Mead is an American author best known for her young adult and fantasy novels. Born in Michigan, Mead received a B.A. in creative writing from the University of Michigan in 2000. She worked as a teacher before turning to writing full-time. Mead's debut novel, "Succubus Blues," was published in 2007 and became the first book in the "Georgina Kincaid" series. She gained wider recognition with her "Vampire Academy" series, which has been translated into over 30 languages and sold millions of copies worldwide. Other notable works include the "Bloodlines" series, the "Dark Swan" series, and the "Age of X" novel. Mead's books have been praised for their strong female characters, intricate world-building, and gripping storylines. She has received numerous awards, including the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Fantasy (2010, 2011, 2012) and the YALSA Teen Choice Book of the Year Award (2011). Her "Vampire Academy" series was adapted into a film in 2014.
