Richard Castle is a fictional character and the protagonist of the ABC crime drama Castle, portrayed by Nathan Fillion. He is a best-selling mystery novelist who teams up with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett to solve crimes. Castle's novels feature Detective Nikki Heat, a character based on Beckett. His writing style is described as "fast-paced and suspenseful," and his books have been translated into several languages. The Castle TV series aired from 2009 to 2016, spanning eight seasons and 173 episodes. While the character of Richard Castle is fictional, the actor Nathan Fillion who portrayed him has received critical acclaim for his performance.
