Neal Stephenson is an American science fiction writer and essayist known for his complex, ambitious, and tech-savvy novels. Born in Fort Meade, Maryland in 1959, he holds a degree in physics from Boston University. Stephenson's early works include "The Big U" (1984) and "Zodiac" (1988), but he gained widespread recognition with the sprawling cyberpunk novel "Snow Crash" (1992). Subsequent notable works include "The Diamond Age" (1995), "Cryptonomicon" (1999), "Quicksilver" (2003), and "Seveneves" (2015). Stephenson's books have won numerous awards, including the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Hugo Award, and the Locus Award. His work has received critical acclaim for its depth, innovation, and exploration of complex ideas related to technology, society, and history.
