Kathy Herman is an American author of children's books. Born in 1956 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she has written over 40 books, including the popular "Bug" series. Her books have won numerous awards, including the Minnesota Book Award (2000) and the Parents' Choice Award (1997). Herman's writing is known for its humor, compassion, and empathy for children. She weaves personal experiences, cultural diversity, and real-life issues into her stories. Her books have been praised for their ability to entertain, educate, and inspire young readers. In addition to her writing, Herman is also an active speaker and advocate for children's literacy. She has served on the board of the Children's Book Guild of Washington, D.C., and was a charter member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
