Anthony Riches (born 1956) is a British author and journalist specializing in cold war history and military espionage. He was born in Portsmouth, England, and began his career as a journalist for the BBC. In 1987, Riches published his first book, "The Soviet Union and the Cold War," which established him as a respected historian. He has since written numerous books on the cold war, including "Churchill and the Cold War" (1995), "The Warsaw Pact: A History" (2001), and "The CIA in Britain" (2008). Riches has received several awards for his work, including the British Book Awards History Book of the Year in 2001 and the RUSI Westminster Medal for Military History in 2015. His books have been praised for their clear and detailed analysis of the cold war and their insights into the strategies and motivations of the major powers involved.
